Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Monday that "more than 1,000 members" of the Islamic Resistance Group (Hamas) are being treated in Turkish hospitals.

Erdogan further told reporters that he considered Hamas to be a “resistance organization.”

In response, the Greek Prime Minister said that his country and Turkey cannot agree on all the issues related to the Gaza war except that violence must end and a long-term ceasefire is needed.

"Let's agree to disagree," Kyriakos Mitsotakis said to Erdogan.

Erdogan, in turn, said that he was saddened that Greece deems Hamas to be a terrorist organization.

In the same press conference, Erdogan confirmed that the church of the Holy Savior in Chora in Istanbul will be opened today as a mosque.

The decision to convert the ancient Byzantine Orthodox church was protested previously by the Greek Prime, who was present at the press conference with the Turkish President when he announced the opening.

"The Kariye mosque in its new form will remain open to everyone," Erdogan said, addressing.

The church -now mosque- is decorated with 14th-century frescoes of the Last Judgment.
